This is the tale of a very wise and mysterious English bulldog,

Who is often spotted late at night in London’s misty rain and fog.

He’s a scrappy old canine known far and wide by the name of Mr. Piddles,

And he happens to know many ancient chants and mystifying riddles.

Some claim that Mr. Piddles has to be at least 800 years old,

For centuries, around English campfires, his legend has been told.

They say he got his name when he put out a fire in Big Ben,

You see, they didn’t have too many fire hoses way back then.

Some also say that old Mr. Piddles once sailed the seven seas,

Where he learned many different languages and ancient mysteries.

Once upon a time, he sat under King Arthur’s huge Round Table,

Long, long ago, he listened as Merlin spun his tantalizing fables.

Once Mr. Piddles roamed green forests in a place called Sherwood,

With a small ragtag group of very merry men, led by Robin Hood.

He also used to live at 221b Baker Street, dining on juicy bones,

Given to him by a cunning detective, known as Sherlock Holmes.

No one really knows how much of Mr. Piddles’ legend is really true ,

But when the children of London spot him, they are never ever blue.

They say he now roams the streets of London to keep its children safe,

They say he is a true hero and champion, so loyal, wise, and brave.

He fills all of their hearts with merriment, he takes away their pain,

He makes every single little youngster feel like laughing in the rain.

And best of all, he has a friend, who Mr. Piddles thinks is oh so dandy,

His pal is none other than a mischievous little boy, by the name of Little Andy.
