Poem Artwork

I used to love to fish,

I often got up at dawn.

I jumped in my old van,

And in a flash, I was gone.

Soon, I was relaxing,

At a very magical place.

The good old fishin hole,

Always put a smile on my face.

It was just me, Nature,

And my favorite secluded spot,

Away from the maddening hordes,

I really loved that a lot.

But ever skyrocketing gas prices,

Soon put a damper on my fishin fun.

I couldn’t afford to fill up the old van,

Gosh Darn it, my fishin days were done.

I was feelin the old fishin withdrawal blues,

Until I peered out my front window today.

And, Good Lord, what I saw out there,

Quickly made me yell, Hip, Hip, Hooray!

It had rained extremely hard last night,

The rain had filled up the pothole in my street.

I excitedly grabbed my fishin pole and chair,

And I was out there in a flash and a beat.

Now, I’m once again in Heaven,

And I’m truly happy once more.

There’s a brand new fishin hole,

Right outside my front door!

But I really don’t think I’ll catch much,

Although I’m still enthused, and I’ll wait.

The fish in my pothole are probably safe,

Since I don’t have any money for bait.

Hold on! Wait a minute! What’s this?

I just found a message in this old bottle.

It appears that it was sent from England,

From old Mr. Piddles – my Role Model.

The note says that there is Big Trouble brewing,

More Evil Insect Marauders are on the loose.

They are being assembled at this very minute,

By Andy Turner of S.P.L.A.T. – That Silly Goose!

Please Stay Tuned…

Okay, Eddie, go on and make a fool of yourself fishing in
the street like that. See if I care. Just don't go hook
that cute little Freddy Frog, or you will get handcuffed
by the F.F.F.O. (Freedom for Frogs Organization). They have
rights, too, you know!
Hee hee...
