I’ll Be There For You

 
 

She was yet another victim

Of a bitter tragic broken home

Her humans had abandoned her

She was now so terribly all alone

She truly did not comprehend

What she had done to make them mad

Or why they had so callously discarded her

In her loyal heart which was now so very sad

At about the very same time

That Daisy found herself alone

My aunt’s precious dog Sadie

Died of old age in her home

As my aunt grieved alone in her bedroom

And Daisy grieved alone at the dog pound

I realized how they both could use a best friend

And now for neither could a single friend be found

So I went and picked up Daisy at the animal shelter

And brought her straight to my elderly aunt’s place

The sheer joy and relief they both soon discovered

Was apparent on both the dog’s and the human’s face

I truly love these truly happy endings

We all truly need a best friend in life

And these two lost souls can now help each other

To find life’s joy again and chase away their strife

Your best friend just might be waiting for you,

At your local animal shelter.
