Anticipation

This very nervous very cute little furry guy

Like thousands and thousands of dogs and cats

Stands very anxiously in his Gulf Coast holding pen

Hoping for a miracle that will change his life just like that

They anxiously wait for the arrival of the human they love

And they will anxiously wait and wait and wait some more

Until they see that face - that one particular human face

That deep inside their furry hearts and souls they adore

If you know of anyone at all who has lost their pet

In the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina’s wrath

And they really don’t know how to find their lost pet

In most instances all the animal rescue organizations can do

Is post pictures like this on this lost pet webpage on the Internet

Most of these forlorn creatures have no ID and have not been microchipped

And the vast majority of these lost creatures have not found their humans yet

This will be an extremely massive undertaking

For the next several grueling months to come

And I hope and pray that for both human and pet

Thousands of them will have a joyous reunion outcome

In the several joyous human and animal reunions

That I witnessed at our pet rescue camp in Mississippi

We could never really tell for sure who was truly happier

Because both human and pet were filled with utter utter glee
