He had suffered ever so greatly

Under Katrina’s very vicious attack

While racing for safety - struck by a car

He horrendously now had a broken back

He was found in a deserted home

Lying there sprawled on a filthy mat

And he was soon rushed to the pet clinic

This dog wanted to live no doubt about that

After weeks of veterinary care and treatment

This courageous canine who was named Red

Has remained an inspiration to all who’ve met him

Since he’s always happy and never filled with dread

If you stop to pet or chat with him

Red gets this huge smile on his face

And if you want to play fetch with him

He very excitedly rushes off on the chase

Red has lost the use of his back legs

And he has to scoot along on the floor

But this courageous mutt does it so willingly

He’s one Katrina victim that we all now adore

Pit Bull terriers have been given a very bad reputation

But the majority of Pits we’ve rescued are very sweet

Our dear old Red lavishes everyone with doggie kisses

As he rushes to the front door where everyone he greets

Donated rescue funds are now being utilized

To purchase a wheeled scooter for our friend

And we can’t wait to see this incredible dog

Joyously racing through the halls without end

And there are hundreds of pet rescue stories

Just as incredible and as heartwarming as this

Thanks to all who sent donations to these orphans

You’ve filled many animals and rescuers with bliss
