She is quite an intriguing dog catcher

I recently met her down in New Orleans

She always works with her human partner

Catching canines on those streets so mean

This dog catcher’s name is Zoey

She herself had been a forlorn stray

She had been abandoned by her owners

Until her human friend Al found her one day

She grew up helping Al run his animal shelter

She’s been his sidekick now for many a year

And watching her round up frightened canines

Is something marvelous that I will always cheer

As she and Al roamed the mean streets of New Orleans

She would soon help corner and hold many a terrified stray

And without ever speaking a single word to these left behinds

Zoey could somehow convince them that help was on the way

Many of Zoey’s rescued canine friends

Are now in animal shelters all across this vast land

And although this compassionate dog catcher cannot ask you to

If you could adopt just one – I know that Zoey would think that grand

And if I have any beliefs about immortality

I am certain that this dog will surely get

An honored spot inside those Pearly Gates

Since she has far more compassion

Than many a human I have recently met
