“I go to nature to be soothed and healed,

And to have my senses put in order.”

John Burroughs

Another restless night

Sleep once again evades

I drive down to the lakeshore

My troubles now to contemplate

As I sit here pondering my life

A metamorphosis begins to occur

Another brand new day is dawning

And many life forms now begin to stir

The many songbirds eagerly call out

Their serenade is so soothing and free

They don’t charge for their daily concerts

Always seeming to be filled with so much glee

Soon seagulls begin to chatter

They too know that life’s a gift

My mind now begins to wander

My inner thoughts now all adrift

A tiny chipmunk eagerly emerges

He too sits here peering at the dawn

Then he’s off to find some breakfast

Merrily chattering his morning song

The big old tree on the tranquil lakeshore

Lifts its massive branches towards the sun

This sedentary life form also sagely knows

That a glorious brand new day has just begun

I soon close my eyes and listen

Lake breezes whisper in my ear

They tell me that I’ve been foolish

They tell me to cast off all my fears

My negative thoughts emerge once more

And now I force them to slowly drift away

I begin to realize that life really does begin anew

For each and every living being each and every day

Why worry about our past regrets

Why torture ourselves with yesterday

What matters most is the rest of our lives

What matters most at this moment is today

Suddenly I’m feeling much more relaxed and calm

My tensions now evaporating in the old tree’s shade

So now I just sit back close my eyes and eagerly listen

To a brand new and magnificently glorious sunrise serenade

You read my poem today...I don't know what made me chose this one to get to know you by, but it was a wise and some how guided choice. So pleased to meet you! This, in it's own way, reminds me of something I wrote the other day...spirit of the moment...a comfortable yet transitional reach from what had come before. Sometimes the time we take to pause and reflect inspires the most rewarding words...these are touching...

We tend to get so caught up in the prison of city life and city problems. We worry about that over which we have no control and stress about how others see us. All of this is stripping time off of our lives, time when we could be sitting back and marveling at all the beauty that we have been blessed with. Attitude is everything and you have placed a tranquil note upon mine with your gorgeous verse.
Take care,
Sherry

Oh Ed this is glorious poetry inspired and uplifting to every spirit! It makes so much more sense to see the beauty in each new day than to carry yesterdays baggage into it with you. There will be enough happening today to take care of. A great scripture for this one"Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof!" I love Sunrise serenade!Thank you! Also love the art and quote!;-)

A beautiful description of the morning pleasures which are so often overlooked in the rush of our lives, and yet they are priceless, just like the soft chatters of nature by sundown.

You renew and revitilize our spirits with this soaring and refreshing composition..
It pays richly to escape periodically the yellow brick road...:)
The graphic and John Burroughs's quote sit well with each other..
