An Excerpt from the First Issue of

The Adventures of Frumpalina,

The Dead Poet Society’s

 Second New Comic Book Series;

The First – ‘Jersey Devil,’

Was Introduced Yesterday.

“Frumpalina!  Frumpalina!

Why do you look so very very sad?

Today, my dear child, is your very big day,

You should be fluttering about so very very glad.”

“But Mother!  But Mother!

I don’t want to work for the queen,

I don’t like that big stuffy old castle,

Or that noisy crowded village scene.”

“Frumpalina! Frumpalina!

We must all do what’s required of us,

Now quit worrying about this so much,

And please stop making such a big big fuss.”

“But Mother!  But Mother!

I would rather stay here in the woods,

Please don’t make me go to the castle,

And I Promise, I’ll be very very good!”

“Frumaplina! Frumpalina!

I don’t want to discuss this any more,

Now go find your finest forest fly frock,

And flutter as fast as you can, out that door.”

So tiny little Frumpalina, the Forest Fly

Did as her mother had instructed her to do

But when she finally fluttered into the castle

She soon witnessed a horrendous hullabaloo

One of the queen’s many castle bakers

Had ruined the queen’s favorite peach cobbler

And before Frumpalina even knew what happened

The queen smacked her over the head – a real wobbler

“But, Queen, I am Frumpalina, you sent for me…”

This now tiny injured Frumpalina forest fly quickly whispered

“Oh My Gosh, Frumpalina, I thought you were a dreadful fruit fly,

But now I fear a wobbling forest fly won’t be of any use to me, Dear.”

“I need a fast flying forest fly that can fearlessly fly far and fast,

To bring me all the news and gossip from my queen’s big forest,

So you may wobble back on home now, my tiny Frumpalina Fly,

Guards, bring in that fast flying forest fly named Fearless Forrest.”

On her wobbly journey back to the big forest that same afternoon

Frumpalina the Forest Fly decided this had been her very worst day

And as this wobbly little fly continued ever so slowly towards her home

She decided that she would somehow re-pay that mean old queen one day…
