They say it all started

One Christmas long ago

Princess Anita was ecstatic

She had longed for this gift so

Santa Claus had brought the princess

A tiny tiny oven and baking accessories

Princess Anita spent the next several days

Baking scrumptious little cookies with glee

But something rather odd happened a few weeks later

And it started worrying her parents the King and Queen so

Princess Anita had become strangely attached to her creations

They were now in every room in the castle covered with mold

For some reason the princess had decided that these cookies

Were actually all part of the kingdom’s extended royal family

And she simply wouldn’t let any of the castle staff remove them

Since each and every day she talked to her ‘family’ very lovingly

“Good Morning, Auntie Gingerbread,

How are you and my dear cousins today?

After we all have some tea and biscuits,

Perhaps we’ll all attend tonight’s royal play.”

“Good Evening, Royal Prince Macadamia Nut,

Any news today of our royal fleet of brave cookie ships?

I just know they shall return soon from their explorations,

Under the very fine leadership of Commodore Chocolate Chip.”

The King and Queen are a little concerned about Anita

They’ve tried to convince her it’s probably just a fantasy

But each time they do the princess throws a royal tantrum

Racing about the castle comforting everyone in her royal family

Several years have now come and gone in the kingdom’s stone castle

And Princess Anita still cherishes all her cookies that now grow very old

These days she often dreams of one day meeting a noble Prince Charming

Who will lovingly accept each of her royal relatives so regally attired in mold
