“I fell in to a burning ring of fire,

I went down, down, down,

And the flames went higher.

And it burns, burns, burns,

The ring of fire,

The ring of fire.”

Johnny Cash,

The Ring of Fire

I awoke long before dawn’s first light

I was feverish and felt extremely weak

And I cursed as I hobbled out of bed

I very urgently needed to take a leak

The pain in my spider-bit foot

Was now driving me quite insane

I sensed an evil presence in the house

And I knew this intruder was deranged

As I approached the bathroom

I saw a shadow standing there

He looked very sinister and wild

And he had thickly matted hair

As I slowly hobbled down to the kitchen

I could feel the intruder’s breath close by

There was something very familiar about him

But in my fevered condition I had no idea why

As I brewed my needed morning coffee

I sat sullenly watching the morning news

And as soon as I had consumed a fresh cup

I wearily hobbled back upstairs for a snooze

But first I switched on the bathroom light

Absentmindedly deciding to comb my hair

And would you believe I saw him once again

That damned old intruder was standing right there

I put on my glasses to get a better view

And gazing in the mirror what should I see

But that very disheveled evil old intruder

Now very craftily staring right back at me

I finally laughed and he finally smiled

As we both now began to comb our hair

It was just another very bizarre feverish day

For we two very feverish old fools to share

“Good Morning, You Old Fool!”

“Scared you, didn’t I?!”

“Shut up, and go take a nap.”

“I think I will – you go walk the dogs.”

“I can’t.  My foot’s too swollen.”

“Oh, that’s right.”

“You better wake up the wife to do it.”

“You wake her up.  I’m going back to bed.”

As I finally looked down towards the floor

I saw my four flabbergasted dogs standing there

They seemed shocked to find me talking to myself

But they had to pee so I guess they really didn’t care

Luckily my spouse had now awakened

She’d heard me feverishly speaking to myself

As she very nervously dressed to walk the dogs

I just couldn’t decide if I were in heaven or in hell

“I fell in to a mystifying web of spiders,

I went down, down, down,

And the fever went higher.

And it burned, burned, burned,

The web of spiders,

The web of spiders.”

There is nothing like the thoughts and paranoia that can come from a fever. I used to feel as though my head was being pressed into my shoulders and like my neck was collapsing...now fever dreams...WOW, what a trip those are. I hope your foot heals soon, Ed.
Take care,
Sherry

Sick or not, Ed, you are always in rare form!

However, the spider bite is another story! Please take me seriously!
A few years ago, I was bitten on my back, by a female wolf spider, who laid her egg sack in the bite...it was so terrifying and PAINFUL,
and flesh-eating! The HOLY SPIRIT told me to "soak a papertowel in peroxide and place it on it" I was all alone, terrified, sobbing, but I listened...IT BURNED and suddenly, I felt this suction-letting-go type of thing and I pulled my hand away with the 4-fold paper towel
UGHHHHHHH! The thing - egg sack! - was in it! Holy Spirit told me to squeeze out the tube of NEOSPORIN onto a 5" band-aid pad, and with the help opf a mirror, I got it on, enough to stay, until my husband got off work...
The egg sack is almond-shaped, and it is the color of a popcorn shell! I called my Shelley, crying, who lived in North Carolina at the time, and she was having her house sprayed! - she told him, and the exterminator is the one who told her exactly what that was! I went online to one of the Universities, for more information. Long story short, I did go to ER...and listening to the Holy Spirt prevented me from having necrosis set in, which requires surgery!
Joe found the wolf spider - huge! - they make "silks" or "shelters" that look like white nurse's stockings! BEWARE!! please don't mess around with it........I was fevered and throwing up.......please, please take it seriously, Ed!

We'll be praying! Please let us know......

As for the 'Old Fool' in the mirror, fever'll do that to ya.

"Fevered Thoughts" is a very cute journey of the heat of the moment from a spider bite. If your bite is real, hope you're feeling better. My best, Gloria

Hi Ed:

I'm truly concerned about that bite on your foot. Please seek medical help immediately before it gets any worse as I know some spiders are poisonous.

I'll be praying for your speedy recovery.

If write for the remembering what goes on with my life, and it's true most of my posts and stories are of 1st person. Anyway, this is how I write. Sorry it seems to have offended some people whom I don't even know.

The poems I write with 1st person is just my vent, or sometimes I feel happiness that I want my friends to feel happy too. I don't think there's anything wrong with that as most people/poets I know use to convey their feelings to others on what they are feeling and doing everyday.

I write because I feel happy in writing, I write because sometimes I need to vent. If it offends anyone then I'm truly sorry, that they don't have to read me. Just let me write and grieve and vent and be happy for myself.

I see that most poets use 1st person to write their poetry.

It is not right to criticize others on how they feel, just because they write about themselves on how they truly feel.

If you don't want to read anything then don't read it.

Moreover, if you are offended by the "me's" om my blogs then you are lack of understanding in how the blogs are are.

Blogs entries are mainly about personal journals, and they are all about the writers daily happenings.

If you are offended by everyone's "Me", then don't read.

Very. very clever. . .and so well-written! Gotta come back to this
jewel! Odd coincidence: an intruder shows up at my place, reg'lar
as rain {or drought, as the case might be). Got stung by wasps recently, so even the bite rings a {scary-sounding} bell! Great work, Mistuh E-yud. Keep it up, y'heah--? Yank E. Trayansplant <3
