We finally completed our move

Arriving safely at our new home

But much to my horror and dismay

My spouse’s attitude soured this poem

I admit our new abode is a ‘fixer upper’

But its country setting is quite a delight

And I really like all these creepy noises

That my wife insists keep her up all night

I also admit our new house is a bit drafty

I guess I need to fix all the window panes

And old Mother Nature didn’t help much

As soon as we arrived we got a ton of rain

But I really do not understand her attitude

About the very quaint old wooden outhouse

She vehemently insists I install indoor plumbing

As she perched out there last night she saw a mouse

If we can make it through the long cold winter

I’m sure her sour attitude will improve by spring

The flowers and vegetable garden that we’ll have

To her heart and soul some happiness should bring

Luckily all of our many critters seem to like the place

We don’t have any living human neighbors for miles

But I guess I better start working on an indoor toilet

Maybe that will bring my beleaguered spouse a smile

All the critters and I are all happily looking forward

To a very spooky Halloween in our rustic new home

It’s haunted by a very large family from the mid 1800s

Maybe one of them will soon inspire a Halloween poem

One of the reasons I purchased old Thornwood Manor

Is to work on my next book – a horror/murder mystery

But I sure hope my spouse can adjust to our new home

Since it really fills me and the hounds with absolute glee
