I was still sitting out in the outhouse

Just before heading for the dog pound

When my neighbor’s old horse, Wilbur

Trotted over with an idea most profound

And I know it sounds incredible

That a human being named Mr. Ed

Would know a wise old horse named Wilbur

Who was now thinking, ‘Get her a horse, instead.’

For some very strange reason

We can read each other’s minds

Wilbur has helped me in the past

This wise old equine is very kind

So I began thinking about his sage suggestion

And after awhile it really started to make sense

We’ve got plenty of room here at the sanctuary

And I could build her pet a fine corral and fence

So I thanked old Wilbur for his sage advice

And I soon jumped into my trusty old truck

I thought I knew someone now selling a horse

And I just knew this filly could change my luck

You should have seen the joy in my wife’s eyes

When I told her that Rosie could be her next gift

“You are such a wonderful and thoughtful husband!”

Which really gave my somber soul a very huge lift

Now we’re heading over to see Rosie this very afternoon

And I’ve never seen such a loving sparkle in my wife’s eyes

I just knew getting her a pet would bring back our marital bliss

And she was extremely pleased when I told her my other surprise

“And by the way, Sweetie, Wilbur may be for sale, too!”

And now we are both looking forward to

Extremely romantic rides through the woods

Enjoying nature’s magnificent bounty together

As our Creator intended loving couples should

So my advice to men just about everywhere

If your relationship now seems on the wane

Forget the jewelry and get your love a new pet

It will send her into an ecstasy not hard to explain

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all the obstacles in my way,
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
