The big city can be a cruel jungle

Far too many souls that don’t care

And a fella on his own can get lost

I should know I used to live there

And there’s a sandwich shop there

That I’d often wander into late at night

Just lookin for a little company and warmth

Just tryin to get over my anxiety and my fright

I ended up there because of my divorce

The young fella in the picture lost his mother

And when I watched his terrible plight on the news

It really looked like he could use a friend and a brother

After a time a kind soul came to the shop to befriend him

He was given some food and released back into the country

I stood up and cheered as I watched him race into the woods

There is truly nothin better in the whole world - than bein free

My old hometown used to round up these strays

And immediately cart them off to be put down

Thankfully these days they’ve found a better way

In Chicago for this coyote some compassion was found

“He's got this dream about buyin' some land,

He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands,

And then he'll settle down, there's a quiet little town,

And he’ll forget about everything.

And when you wake up it's a new mornin'

The sun is shinin' it's a new mornin,

You're goin,'

You're goin' home!”
