Mom’s Birthday Book,

Is Coming Along,

Very Nicely

And Lady J

Has Been Posting

Some Very Interesting Articles

About Brother Ed’s Escapades Lately

And Sending Me Some Very Old Pictures

Thank You, Lady J!

“Life’s pretty good.

And why wouldn’t it be?

I’m a Pirate, after all!”

AD Member

Ed Matlack

I will never forget that summer

When my Other Brother Big Ed

Decided that we would be pirates

His decision, I would truly dread

“Pee Wee, we have to build us a ship,

And it has to be ship shape and level,

I will be the Big Bad Captain, Big Ed,

And we’ll name her, The Jersey Devil!”

“Now, we’re gonna need lots of wood,

And we’re gonna need lots of real big nails,

She has to be a very reliable old pirate ship,

So we can plunder old New Jersey as we sail!”

And, of course, he meant I would build it

He always made me do all the heavy work

I had to haul all that stuff out to the Barrens

And he sat around, like a Pirate Captain jerk

And, of course, when it was finally finished

He always insisted I had to walk that plank

He also blamed me that one real stormy day

When in the thick mud, that ship almost sank

And, of course, he always slept in the cabin

He made me sleep in the old ‘Shark Shack’

And, of course, he always ate up all the food

That dear old Mom gave us in our pirate sack

But the Good Lord finally answered my little prayer

That pirate ship was hit by lightning one stormy night

I don’t think I ever saw my Big Brother Ed run so fast

As he ran home yellin, “Momma!” I laughed with delight

Remember That Night, Mom?!!

But after that old pirate ship had burned to the ground

Big Brother Ed decided that we would now be Cowboys

“Pee Wee Ed, you’re gonna be my goofy little sidekick,

And I’m gonna be that hero, Hopalong Eddie – Oh, Boy!”

(But That’s Another Story)

And We Only Tease,

The Ones We Really Love!

☺2007, Mr. (Pee Wee) Ed

They've invented a substance called rope that would tie around various extensions of Big Ed quite nicely, Peewee. Fun, Ed. Our pirate ship was a barkless white elm dead on its side with a healthy helping of immagination, no work, all play...Jerry

I recall a slightly differing version of this story, but far be it from me to say bad things about Pee wee, er, uh, I mean Eddie...did he tell you about the fireworks he loaded in the cannon that actually did the job that supposedly was done by lightening...guess not...

...Poor, poor put upon younger Ed...

pee wee Ed keep it up and you'll soon have as many names as me;-) Well, you and big bro sure have some high times even though you get the short end. About time you turned the tables on his big jersey butt and made him do some work!;-)

Ed, this was a delight to read, I know your brother had you towing the line. I enjoyed the experiences of yesteryear and thought the painting was fantastic. You're talented Ed and you come up with some great poems.

Please tell me the magic words to have that lightning come down, I have someone around here that I need to scare silly.
I will pay anything to have my two brothers (older than me but that i licked them well, I was kind of a little firecracker) but they are around to tease me anymore.
I envy a little you two. (and Mr. Ed, you never say thanks for that bucket of oil I send by e-mail for your rustmobile)

Like hell I will! :)) Thank you for this very gentle, genteel reminder of what it is like to grow up around brothers... a pain in the bussle for certain sure... unless you get to play Nurse, then you can cut it all off... brothers' hair, I mean... !! :)) And no, I don't want to be tied to a cactus and used as target practice... Keep the child in you but never get childish in your life's pursuits.
In Florida now for another few days. Never had a bad day at golf in Dubai, Germany, or Florida.
