News Reports

Are Often Far Stranger

Than Fiction Could Ever Be

“Every time I leave my office,

They’re sitting at my desk,

And at my computer.

I can’t seem to get rid of the darn things.”

Police Captain Richard Harrison

A very eerie thing is happening

In the town of Springfield, Oregon

About 75 gnome lawn ornaments

Gathered on a home owner’s lawn

Was this some sort of ancient gnome convention

Was this some kind of message to the home owner

Have all these gnomes now taken on a life of their own

Will they inspire other gnomes to embark in national terror

Frightened beyond belief, the home owner soon called the police

Who quickly dispatched officers to round up these roving gnomes

And now, they’re wreaking havoc at the Springfield Police Station

Taking over the Police Chief’s desk, computer, and even his phone

Now, several of my lawn ornaments are acting very strange

I found them all huddled right outside our bedroom window

And yesterday, my spouse found them blocking the driveway

Now she is far too frightened to leave the house, refusing to go

Our gnomes must somehow be in contact with those in Springfield

And I’d bet that your gnome lawn ornaments are up to something now

It might be best if everyone starts keeping an eye on their own gnomes

And now I wonder if our pink flamingoes will also come to life somehow

And unbelievably, our dogs are now refusing to heed the call of nature

On our front or back lawn, instinctively preferring that of our neighbor

She doesn’t have any extremely eerie lawn ornaments lurking all about

I’m betting she soon calls the police to report devilish creatures with fur

Most Animals are Extremely Intuitive,

I’d Bet My Dogs Know What’s Going On;

I’d Suggest That Everyone Keep Very Alert,

And Watch Your Own Front and Back Lawns.

†2007, Mr. Ed

“The Truth is Out There.”

FBI Agent Fox Mulder

What a great imagination...the only lawn ornament that I have is a really ugly owl, that was supposed to keep the chickens out of my flower beds...NOT! Now he just happily sits in the midst of the blooming flowers! Maybe I need a gnome to keep the chickens out of the flower bed, and the deer out of the corn! You may just have something...
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Gnomes who roam in mobile homes
and those that play before each day
can make a night a scarey site
So keep away from their bite
For Gnomes who roam get pretty hot
Best get you a rabies shot.

You are funny and I can't even do this poem justice. Always enjoy your work.
Love and blessings!

You make fiction come to life. You have to write a children's book, your talent knows no bounds.

Ed, believe it or not, here in our area...people were stealing peoples pick Flamingoes & gnomes...a gnome went missing from a lawn here and one year to the date it was returned...this is an eerie situation & everyone wants to know who is up to this...is it a joke or something else?? I enjoyed this writing a lot and I'm sure it would fit good in a children's book. A great write!

Mr. Ed, this just in...the alleged culprits have sent a press release, stating that it is 'Gnome of your business'

From 200 miles NW along the Oregon Coast, two gnomes were spotted along highway 101, thumbing their way towards the Columbia River, that is, until they were caught by the rear tires of a Winnebego.

This is stranger than fiction as I had a message on my phone from Springfield police station,, "you don't gno me , but we need you to bail us out, we are just innocent gnomes on the roam"
but my dogs did not like it,,I think those gnomes are up to no good,,,and I'm not bailing them out !

Darn those pesky little critters--the gnomes. This sounds like a milder extention of Halloween. Are we putting a mysterious side to Christmas? LOL
