“Blimey!

That’s One Hell of a Big Bug!”

The biggest bug to have ever lived

Was very recently found in Germany

I would have loved to have it by my side

In the BUG vs. SPLAT War I had with Andy

Its scientific name is Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae

It was a very huge and very hungry Sea Scorpion

And if this enormous insect had been on BUG’s side

I could have quickly put his SPLAT forces to an end

Very sadly, old Jaekelopterus died 390 million years ago

It used its powerful tail and enormous claws to catch prey

And a few years back, in our poetic BUG VS. SPLAT war

I could have enlisted this giant to end the hostilities in one day

Its fossilized remains were found in a rock quarry near Dusseldorf

It was a very ancient and very large ancestor of present day Arachnids

These truly enormous bugs eventually found a way to become much smaller

Somehow evolving into much tinier creatures, where in tiny crevices they hid

But don’t think that humans have won this epic SPLAT vs. Bug War just yet

At this very moment, insects still make up three quarters of all the life on Earth

If I could, I would resurrect old Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae and send him to Andy

Watching my old English chum open that box would truly fill my heart with mirth!

It’s Still a Bug’s World,

And It Always Will Be;

For If All the Insects Ever Die,

It’ll Be the End of You and Me.

Unlike We Human Beings,

Insects Keep Earth’s Ecosystems Alive;

Mother Earth Could Get Along Without Us,

But Only Through Insects, Can She Survive.
