The latest State of The Forest Report shows deforestation

Has now escalated to an astounding 32 million acres a year

We very callously continue to kill Earth’s very heart and soul

Yet most still don’t care, while we should all be shedding a tear

Fifty thousand square miles of forest destroyed per year

Which is the equivalent of the entire state of Mississippi

Yet most of us, including many of the world’s leaders

Still look the other way, still very blindly refusing to see

The dire alarm was sounded years ago by many biologists

Now over 300 scientists and conservation groups worldwide

Say we are ripping out the very heart and soul of Mother Earth

A modern day fact that truly should not fill we humans with pride

Yet Modern Medicine is again turning to wild plants for treatments

And we don’t even know how many miracle cures are already gone

How many more plants and birds and wild animals will become extinct

As our modern day chainsaws and bulldozers replace bird songs at dawn

This Massive Modern Day Deforestation

Is also contributing to our global warming crisis

When the life-enhancing effect of trees diminishes

Mother Earth warms faster, there is no doubt about this
