“I love cats because I love my home,

And after awhile,

They become its visible soul.”

Jean Cocteau

Born of a wild feral mother

The only one of five to survive

Valentina’s been with us a week now

And this orphan’s already begun to thrive

The first few days of her brand new life

She went exploring, as quiet as any mouse

And she has delighted in her new discoveries

Tip-toeing and wandering, all through the house

The very first thing that absolutely astounded her

Was the abundance of free fresh food, all around

She soon delighted in the taste of many new things

And a wondrous new world, of smell, sight, and sound

Then one afternoon, just a few days ago

She encountered this marvel we call a T.V.

She sat mesmerized, directly in front of its glow

Watching and listening, her heart filled with glee

Two of our very compassionate felines, Jessie and Flower

Have already adopted her, and become her surrogate aunts

Flower has introduced her to the joy of playing Hide and Seek

Jessie has shown her a marvelous catnap spot, behind our plants

But the most wondrous thing she’s encountered on her adventure

And it’s the best thing that any of us can ever encounter in this life

Is the love and caring that permeates through our entire household

Last night, Valentina purred, and snuggled on the sofa, with my wife

This is a sweet story. Sounds like a Cinderella story where Valentina is adopted by the prince and lives happily ever after in the castle of plenty. I like the way you showed its interest with its new surroundings.

Valentina is a lucky little gal to have a Angel like you in her life! Good for her, and good on ya, Ed! BRAVO!!

She reminds me a lot of our cat, "Friday". Except Friday was dark grey and white and had green eyes, not yellow.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

If I were a homeless waif, I'd want to be adopted by you. :)

No no no, Valentina sounds more like Valentina Tereshkova that woman that was the russian woman adventuring on the great beyond.
That kitty seems to have the spirit of adventure but in the end she found that adventures aren't worth to be away from mother's lap.
