Yesterday, April 23rd was an epic Anniversary
It marked 100 years of our U.S. Army Reserve
One hundred years of very selfless citizen sacrifice
Yet very little recognition, which they truly deserve
This military reserve force of extraordinary citizens
Has been participating in valiant efforts since WWI
They were among the First Responders after Katrina
The selfless work of our Army Reserve, is never done
When called upon, these extraordinary citizens
Very selflessly leave their jobs and their families
They serve and protect, as long as they’re needed
These extraordinary citizens serve, for you and me
And there once was a time in our proud nation
When our elected officials also served with pride
Leaders like Harry S. Truman had valiantly joined
Today, most of our leaders from military service hide
President Roosevelt established the Army Reserve in 1908
And his own son soon joined it, and served valiantly in WWII
Teddy Jr. received a Purple Heart, for his most heroic actions
There was a time in our nation, when leadership was true blue
Yet today, when these extraordinary citizens return home
Our leaders refuse to give them the benefits they truly deserve
Please contact those whom we have elected to office these sad days
Tell them, it’s truly time to honor those who serve, in Army Reserve
Without the valiant citizens of the Army Reserve, the United States would not have been able to fight the First World War. More than 160,000 Army Reserve Soldiers served on active duty. This included about 80,000 enlisted Army Reserve Soldiers and almost 90,000 officer Army Reserve Soldiers, who served in every division of the American Expeditionary Force, including the Regular Army, the National Army, and the National Guard.
By the end of WWII, more than 200,000 Reserve Soldiers had been on active duty, serving on every front. Roughly a quarter of the Army Officers serving during this war were Army Reserve Officers.
And today, more than 170,000 Army Reserve Soldiers have been mobilized since the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Ninety-eight percent of our existing Army Reserve units have sent these Citizen Soldiers to Iraq, Afghanistan, and 18 other countries.
And by the beginning of 2008, the number of Army Reserve soldiers killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan had grown to 153. And more than 1,250 of these extraordinary citizen soldiers have been wounded in action there.

There is nothing more exciting than to March in a Parade, with John Phillip Souza's Music playing - Brass and Drums - and when passing the Reviewing Stand, the Command is heard - "EYES RIGHT!" and, in unison WE SALUTE OUR FLAG!
GOD BLESS AMERICA - HOME OF THE FREE AND THE BRAVE! TKH.
