And The Author is Unknown to Me;
Yet, It’s Such a Powerful Lesson For Us All,
We Can Change, An Earthly Neighbor’s Destiny
One Earthly Neighbor At a Time

Once Upon a Time
A man walked along the sea
As he gazed off into the distance
A most peculiar sight, he did see
Why, it was an extremely young boy
Tossing a starfish, back out into the sea
“Young Man, what on Earth are you doing?
You can’t possibly make a difference, you see.
“There are literally thousands of miles of ocean line,
And there are millions of dying starfish on this beach;
Let Nature take its course with these forlorn creatures,
Can’t you hear me, young man, I am trying to teach!”
The young boy had very patiently and quietly listened to his sage elder
But then, with a smile on his face, he tossed another one, way out to sea
“You are probably very correct that I cannot save all of these starfish, Sir,
But it made a difference to the one I just tossed in,” the boy said very happily
One Needy Earthly Neighbor, Helped By a Young Boy
One Singular Neighbor, For Each of Us, One At a Time
If Each and Every One of Us Today, Helped One Neighbor
How So Very Marvelous, How So Uplifting, How So Divine
And It Really Doesn’t Matter
What Type of A Neighbor That We Choose:
A Person, A Starfish, A Bird, A Dog, or A Cat,
There Will Be One Less Neighbor, With The Blues
In That Horrific 20/20 Report,
Both Young Children and Dogs,
Were Far More Willing To Stop,
And Help The Forlorn Child,
Then We Adults Were.
As I wander this world of ours this afternoon,
With my four compassionate dogs by my side,
If we happen upon such a neighbor in distress,
They will insist we help, and not just walk on by.
