As I sadly walk about our planet,
I see discarded bottles everywhere;
Although some of us pick them up,
Far too many of us simply don’t care.
It takes 2 million barrels of oil
To make 30 billion plastic bottles
So we can purchase bottled water
Instead of getting it from our faucets
Over 25 billion of these bottles are just tossed aside
And they end up in Earth’s oceans, lakes, and streams
Killing 1 million shorebirds and 100,000 marine animals
Each and every year now, and hardly anyone cares it seems
And The Sad Irony:
In most cases, our tap water adheres to stricter purity standards than our bottled water,
Whose sources, far from mountain springs, are found beneath huge industrial facilities.
And at least 50 percent of our now bottled water began life as, tap water.
So, we pay for water that is virtually free,
So we can carry it around in plastic bottles,
Which are horrendously not bio-degradable;
Then we callously toss these bottles aside,
So they can kill the very planet,
That gives us Life.
How Smart Are We?
And Yet One More Reason,
We Should Be Abandoning,
Not Constantly Enhancing,
Our Oil Based Economy.

What ever became of that ancient, retired, and now oft' highly valued antique - the GLASS BOTTLE?
But I guess that the cost savings of breakage eliminated, as well as the lighter shipping weight of PLASTIC makes it all worthwhile, huh? Even if we DESTROY THE EARTH IN THE PROCESS!

Pour a bottled water into a bowl and let it sit there for a day or two.
and
Pour a tap water into a bowl and let it also sit there for a day or two.
Result of the experiment is:
1) The bowl with the bottled water when poured away, the bottom of the bowl is left with some hard sandlike substance. Imagine that goes into your system and stayed in your bladder or liver.
2) The bowl with the tap water when poured away, the bottom of the bowl is still clear.
I drink from tap water, but I boiled them first. I think after you've boiled them, the tap water is a much healthier drink to consume.
