A sobering report has just been issued
After 18 months of research, by NOAA
Almost half of the coral reef ecosystems
In the United States, are in dire shape today
Our Coral Reefs are the breeding grounds of many fish
They are Mother Earth’s ancient Rain Forests of the Sea
They are extremely important, for overall oceanic health
So this very saddening report should fill no one with glee
Over twenty five percent of marine species need reefs
And over forty percent of oceanic fish populations do
If we continue to destroy these needed sea ‘rain forests’
One day, not so very far off, oceanic life will be through
This coral reef destruction is caused by burning fossil fuels
By our massive man-made sewage, and chemical runoff
By our shoreline development, and by drag-line fishing
And, today, many still refuse to believe, and they scoff
Yet, this very lengthy, 18-month report, provides solid evidence
Over 270 scientists and biologists have contributed their findings
Our vital, life-giving and sustaining, coral reefs are in dire trouble
And further destruction of these sea rain forests, disaster will bring
In only the last few decades, all around the globe,
More than 35 million acres of reef have been lost;
If this dire rate of destruction continues - unabated,
In our lifetime, 70 percent of coral reefs – will be gone.

It has been so that now the fishermen don't need quotas, because there are so little fish that Norway just closed the last fish-factory!
For years they where told "don't do it" Now they cry that they livehood is gone and blame everybody else for their misfortune.

Genious in rerouting our effluent into other peoples backyard,(oceans) sorry fishes, the noose tightens, slowly but surely, but as with the frog in hot water, it doesn't seem to register, comfort being what it is, and the lack of true intelligent reroute of our abysmal attitude to everything, the noose will keep tightening.
