Yesterday, was DOGust the First,
The birthday of our rescued canines;
Tomorrow, we have another birthday,
And this one is in The Ancient Ed Line.
In Dog Years,
Old Jersey Devil Ed Matlack,
Will Be 378 Years Old Tomorrow!

There is this really old fart named Ed,
He’s a Deadhead for The Grateful Dead,
He really loves to puff on his pot,
And I really, really, love him a lot,
So, for his birthday, I pooped on his bed!
“Happy Birthday, From Your Best Pal, Rufuz!”

I have this wacky brother I call Jersey Ed,
Who as a kid, just would not get out of bed,
For years, he always slept until way past Noon,
Then, he had to watch all those wacky Looney Tunes,
And man, he balled like a little baby, until he was fed!
“Happy Birthday, Bro, From Your Brother Pee Wee!”

I, too, have a brother, I call Jersey Ed Matlack,
I really loved stuffing him in Ma’s old potato sack,
Then I liked dragging him all around, upside down,
And sometimes, I even banged his head on the ground,
But Jersey Ed knows, for him, I’ll always have his back!
“Happy Birthday, From Brother Edvard, Your Elder!”
IV
So For The Jersey Devil’s Big 378th Birthday,
Please send him a Birthday Greeting, right away.
But he also likes money orders, checks, and cash;
And if you can, please help him replenish his stash,
This, he could really use, without any further delay.
