As always, you bring such interesting poetry to the den. Scientist say that great earthly changes are expected within the next few years. The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. The Mayans might have predicted earthly changes of biblical proportions, the so called, "end times." I attribute man's dastardly thoughts and actions for much of earth's deteriorating state. May God have mercy on us!

I've heard of this supposed demise on December 21, 2012. One has to wonder if that can be true. This is a lovely, well thought out piece of history bought to life.

I have pictures I took on a vacation to see those old ruins. Some of the tourist climbed one of the pyramids. I opted out since the sun was beating down in a heated blaze. Were you the one who said, "Civilizations are born, and civilizations perish?" Anyway, I probably read that quote in college from a professor I'll never forget. He was a great instructor and really turned me on to history and geography for the first time in my life. Well written, Ed. I hope you're wrong about 2012, though.

It won't be temples, or storage bins for the poor, that have improved on theirs, just more of the same that destroyed them.
