I'm an animal lover too. I've had three cats and two dogs at one time. i've just lost 3/4 of my four collie pack to old age. i'm down to one. It's amazing to see an animal accepted by the family dogs/cats.

I discovered this incredible truth in 1991 when I rescued my cats (originally 3, now only 1 left) - All had known the same horrible reality of "abandonment" and then a loving salvation.
That' whey WE carry such a responsibility to animals that we bestowed "life" on through recognition. We bring forth their living souls and to ever violate that then is an atrocity.
They also now of death, though they don't know life we do. But when my old 17 yr. cat was dying in April she actually evolved as though through repentance. She had always been a little jealous of the newest younger male cat, but one day before she died when he came over to see what was wrong with her (she was sick) she licked him like a kitten when usually she would strike him with her paw. So I consider that worthy of "eternal life"...
But your LAST STANZA says it best... if only WE would accept our responsibility to all "our selves"... the world would roll...

How true, Ed. Animals are smarter than us for a lot of reasons but firs and foremost, they understand that there is strength and safety in numbers. Thanks for sharing Little Jack's story...how sweet it is.

I wish Rufuz could be as accepting of other doggies as your guys are...if the dog is a male and still hasn't been fixed Rufuz will go off on him though he doesn't ever seem to draw blood, just seems to scare the hell out of the other dog...I don't like it cause people are sue happy even when its just an animal thing...good for Lil' Jack...Ed
