Another Very Eerie Tale,

For My Old Brother Jersey;

Many Things Are Out There,

That Still Remain, A Mystery.

Music: Spirit Dance

It was a magnificent winter’s hike

Like dozens of these hikes before

I was high in the majestic Rockies

A wondrous place that I do adore

I had set out to ponder my life

I was on vacation, and I was free

I had taken time, away from work

To explore Creation’s ancient mystery

Yet, there was something different

About this particular wilderness trek

There was a very eerie aura in the air

That I couldn’t put my finger on yet

Perhaps, I had lingered on the trail

Just a little too long, before sundown

Perhaps, it was the simple knowledge

That I was the only living soul around

Perhaps, it was all in my mind

My imagination running wild

Perhaps, it was the kid in me

Fantasizing like a young child

I was now very silently perched

Next to a huge frozen water spout

And darkness was quickly setting in

Soon, every bit of light would be out

I was now standing on the precipice

Of a mysterious, silent, frozen world

A place, that was utterly captivating

Where one’s imagination could unfurl

Suddenly, the night wind stirred

And it began, quietly murmuring

Soon, through several dark caves

It began, whispering and churning

I listened very intently now

Was that just the night wind?

Or was there something else

When those shadows set in

I saw a giant shadow move

Across the opening of a cave

Then, I soon spotted another

Had I imagined that it waved?

Suddenly, there were murmurs

Echoing, everywhere around me

Then in an instant, they were gone

Had they now felt the need to flee?

I stood there, frozen in time

I felt as if I had been watched

By someone, or by something

My path had now just crossed

I remained, rigidly frozen in place

Just like that ice-entrapped waterfall

And I listened, so very intently again

Wondering if I would hear another call

Whatever this encounter had been

The silence had returned, once more

A very simple trick of nature, perhaps

Or something, from an unknown door

I eventually moved away from there

And I finally headed off on my way

But I still think about this experience

And, it still fascinates me to this day

I believe life holds many secrets

That we as a race, may never learn

But being the curious being that I am

Answers to many mysteries, I do yearn

And they are still there waiting patiently
for their turn to explore their outter caves
or your mind once more....
Peace be with you
