“I love cats because I love my home,
And after a while,
They become its visible soul.”
Jean Cocteau
He found me, when I was on a business trip
Now many years ago, down in Montgomery
He befriended me, when I was feelin down
So, I snuck him on the plane home with me
He has been with us now, for all these years
He is such a very sweet and loving old feline
But lately, he’s just not been feeling very well
He never complains, but I knew he wasn’t fine
So I took him to our veterinarian’s office
They’ve confirmed, our Monty is quite ill
He’s been diagnosed with Feline Diabetes
And he can’t be cured, with just some pills
Our dear old Monty, now needs insulin shots
We have to give him two injections, every day
But our dear old Monty, is such a stoic trooper
I’m smilin again as I watch dear old Monty play
And someone I know, just asked me yesterday
Why I’m even bothering – old Monty's just a pet
Dear old Monty is so much more; he’s my friend
And neither one of us, has abandoned the other yet

And if you would like to know
How old Monty and I first met,
His posted story is linked below;
To me, he’s far more than ‘just a pet.’
