Me and my marvelous mutts
Went on a little drive yesterday
We headed out to an old wetland
It’s a good place to hear groups play
I was looking for spring bird arrivals
My mutts are intrigued by bird sounds
Our timing, could not have been better
A new chorus of singers had just hit town
These boys had just flown in from Mexico
And they began singing when we got there
My dogs were real fascinated by their tune
It was soon echoing through the wetland air
These mellow fellows were wailin out a song
Trying to attract the attention of sexy females
Although the raspy voices of this happy group
To some, probably do sound like rusty old nails
We were listenin to a real joyous feathered choir
Members of the Yellow-Headed Blackbird Family
My dogs and I, are big fans of this group of singers
Our mellow yellow afternoon filled all of us with glee
