As if things weren’t already bad enough
For man’s best friend, these terrible days
Dogs are being abandoned, in foreclosures
And now, a horrendous dog theft crime wave
Thieves are now stealing dogs, from the elderly
And from those who leave them out in their yards
They are stealing dogs, as a way to make some cash
To get a few bucks, in these times, now so very hard
Pedigreed dogs, are being abducted, for puppy mills
Mutts are being sold to labs, where torture is their fate
Many conniving crooks are selling them on the Internet
And gang bangers want your pup for ‘Dog Fighting Bait’
Just last week, it happened to a very elderly neighbor of mine
Her precious little black poodle was abducted, in front of her eyes
She tried to run after the man with her dog, fell, and broke her arm
She was rushed to the hospital, and for her little dog, oh how she cried
Thieves are even walking off with dogs from shelters;
Taking dogs tied up outside stores and coffee shops;
Breaking into cars where dogs have been left;
And posing as salesmen at peoples’ homes,
To determine what kinds of dogs they have.
In just my area alone,
Several dogs have been stolen in the last few weeks;
So we have formed a new ‘Neighborhood Dog Watch,’
And we are determined to find, and stop, these creeps.
The two little Yorkies in the picture above,
Were recently stolen from someone’s home,
By two men who broke in, and carted them off.
And while pampered pets are being stolen,
More and more starving and abused dogs,
Are now wandering America,
In desperate need of help.
Please Safeguard Your Own Pets;
And Help the Outcasts, if You Can.

This is appalling! My heart hurts thinking about all those poor little doggies being captured. I do not believe we have such a problem here, but I will keep my eyes open and watch over our little creatures.
