Some Thoughts While Watching Jack,
During Our Little Canine Pool Party

What a very different canine he is, today
From when I first found him, months ago
He’d been horribly abused and abandoned
He had never found love in any human soul
He had no faith in any of us human beings
He was terrified of everyone, and very thin
It took me awhile, to gain his complete trust
It took him a very long time, to finally give in
Today, I now marvel at this joyous little canine
He’s finally found great happiness and a home
He loves to play, and romp, and show affection
From our backyard, he now never wants to roam
And each and every night when I crawl into bed
He silently jumps up and lovingly kisses my face
I only wish that every dog alive today among us
Could find a little love, from we, the human race
“He is your friend, your partner, your defender;
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true ,
To the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”
