I’ve often traveled good old Route Sixty-Six

All the way from good old Chicago to L.A.

It’s always been one of my favorite routes

And I just learned about Licks on 66, today

The North Shore Animal League

And Fido Friendly Magazine

Have teamed up for a pet adoption trip

And their mobile van will soon be seen

On good old, very nostalgic, Route 66

Their 36-foot Mobile Adoption Van

Will be starting out on June 6th, in L.A.

And they’ll be traveling all the way to Chicago

Stopping at several Animal Shelters, along the way

They want to raise awareness, for all the shelter animals

They are hoping to promote their mission, of saving lives

They are hoping that you’ll cruise on down to old Route 66

To find yourself a new dog or cat, whose licks are oh so nice

The Licks on Route 66 Schedule:

06/06/09          Los Angeles Dept. of Animal Services

06/10/09          Second Chance Center For Animals

06/13/09          Animal Humane Association of New Mexico

06/14/09          Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society

06/17/09          Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society

06/20/09          Best Friends of Pets

06/21/09          Animal Rescue Foundation

06/24/09          Joplin Humane Society

06/27/09          APA of Missouri

06/28/09          The Illinois Humane Society

07/01/09          South Suburban Humane Society

Won't you get hip to this real timely tip,

And take yourself a little Route 66 trip?

What fond memories I have of good old Route 66

And now, you can get your own licks on Route Sixty-Six,

Some real mighty fine licks, on good old Route Sixty-Six!

I've never been on Route 66. It might be an interesting trip. You have cleverly brought your animal cause to be a focal point on this special road....M

Those licks are an interesting and heart-felt turn, Ed. I've decided I want to read Steinbeck's Travels With Charley when I get the time. Understand he was on that route part of the time, and of course with a poodle. Just learned he partly got that title from one of his favorite books, Travels With A Donkey by Robert Lewis Stevenson. Thinking of a Cairn for my trip.........Jerry
