Tracks In The Sand

-Number Three in My Spirit Lake Series-

“We will be known forever,

By the tracks we leave behind.”

A Native American Proverb

Music: Deep Forest

The middle of the night

My dogs are restless

They sense something

They can’t get any rest

Suddenly, we all hear it

A fierce growl, in the night

I think that I know this sound

But I’ll await the morning light

Just after dawn, I eventually spot them

Some extremely large tracks, in the sand

Now, I know who this lake prowler was

An ancient nocturnal creature, most grand

The tracks down by the sandy lakeshore

Resemble those of an ordinary house cat

But they are much larger, and much deeper

Our visitor was a bobcat, no doubt about that

Bobcats are seldom seen by human beings

They prefer hunting, and traveling, at night

My dogs probably already knew what he was

But the tracks that I found, filled me with delight

Bobcats hunt mostly rabbits, rodents, and birds

And they were named for their stubby, bobbed tails

As I perch in the sand, admiring the tracks left behind

I wonder where he went on this glorious northwood day

That bobcat was trying to get far away from Jersey State with not known bath facilities, you must remember that they can smell 2000 time better!
Nice to see you weren't its supper that night.

Just this morning, CH.2 - two beautiful 9 week-old Male Wolf Cubs - with explanations of their pros and cons, and how Social wolves are. These guys were from Busch Gardens, and will soon be introduced to a pack down there.
