Although I’m Quite Sure That It Will Jeopardize,

It was 62 years ago, today
On July 8th, in the year, 1947
That a mysterious flying saucer
Fell, from the very vast heavens
This ‘other world’ craft had crashed
On a ranch down in old New Mexico
And today, hundreds still flock there
To the yearly ‘Alien Festival,’ they go
When I had first met my very lovely wife
I discovered that she was ‘born’ near Roswell
At approximately the same time, as this incident
And each year about this time, on this, I now dwell
She has dragged me down to the Alien Festival
I have often questioned her Dad, about that day
I’m convinced he did a ‘Pa Kent’ and rescued her
From the strange craft, that crashed down his way
Her father would always just chuckle, and wink
And, she would always get so very danged, upset
But I’m convinced that she still contacts another world
And I’ve vowed to get to the bottom of this mystery yet
When I question her about it she gives me a very sly grin,
And proclaims, “Little Big Man, you’re as crazy as a loon;
Don’t you know that the Air Force, and the government,
Made a mistake, and it was really just, a weather balloon?!”
And Right Now, I’d Better Go Hide Out In My Old Shed;
If She Reads This, She May Zap Me With Her Laser Gun,
And My Pets Would Surely Miss Me, If I Were Soon Dead.
Is My Spouse, an Apache, or an Alien?
This Eerie Mystery, Never Seems to End.
And, The Truth Is Still Out There…
