We thought they'd never end;

We'd sing and dance forever, and a day,

For we were young, and sure to have our way;

Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days!”

When the two of us first met and quickly fell in love

We so joyously went on so many truly romantic trips

Our days and nights, filled with such blissful happiness

On tropical island paradises and very elegant cruise ships

We secretly ran off to very majestic Lake Tahoe to marry

We often wined and dined in gourmet restaurants by the bay

We just adored jetting off to sunny Cancun and the Caribbean

We even found ourselves aboard a Greek Island cruise one day

And there were all those romantic weekends in Las Vegas

And those pricey romantic inns in Arizona and New Mexico

And how we truly loved those voyages on the Mexican Riviera

Visiting those romantic ports like Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco

Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days…

Alas, these days, my irritated spouse now often complains

That I now take off with my dogs, for a day or two of fun

With all the critters that we’ve now taken in, over the years

It’s now far too difficult for both of us to leave home and run

But being the wonderful husband and the caring soul that I still am

I awoke her before dawn just yesterday, with my very romantic plan

Just the two of us would now be heading off to a park down the road

And I very lovingly promised her that it would be so romantically grand

“These are our new days, my wife,

And what a great husband, that I still am,

We’ll sing, and eat, and drink, out here in the park,

And being very thoughtful, I packed your favorite jam!

“But we won’t stay too long,

Out here in this romantic park;

I know you miss all of our critters,

And all of their lovely meows and barks.”

(She’s not talking much, this morning,

But I know she had a wonderful time.)

Now you remind me of my husband's "wunnerful, wunnerful" R.V. trips: me doing the driving...the cooking...the cleanup :o)

L O L ~!! My Ray has always used our dogs as an excuse to stay at his favorite vacation spot. . .h o m e. Not that we don't have a lot of wonderful trips behind us. Even got to Paris and Florence! However, time and circumstance are preventing us from traveling these days. Don't know what we would do without our dog Nicky. Our little Sugar, who was about 15, passed away not long ago. Hurts. Got to get to the shelter and get another companion for Nick. . .and US. Love the picnic pic, by the way. Look so happy!! xOx 'Pea' xOx

As the older brother I will tell what she's thinking, "if PeeWee were a cattle barn he would be full of bull!!!" that's what she was thinking when peusing brochures of Venedig, Paris and London shopping malls. If you think a pitifull walk in the park will do, you should hear Ma and Tiger Lily laffin'!

Sometimes romance is a difficult thing to spark seeing as familiarity often breeds indifference. Though our pets are a joy to have in our life, they can, like children, cramp our style, at times. It is a worthwhile trade off, I believe and you are a sweetie to try to introduce a romantic afternoon into all of the critter chaos.
