I will never understand why people buy from pet stores or puppy mills. TV news show the many atrocities from these places, all being shut down, yet others spring up around the U.S. It's PAST TIME to get serious about the "shut-downs".
Gandhi's words ring so very true, and includes our wildlife! I continue to appreciate your advocacy for all animals, Ed!

Every time I've had a pet, it was a feral or came from the pound or was given to us from a friend or relative. Don't trust puppy or cat mills ... tragic for all involved, but especially for the dogs or cats.

Sad story but one that serves a purpose to get the message out that man must start taking more responsibility for the welfare of all animals both domestic and wild.

Such a sad outcome for a sweet pup like Ben and others like him who are treated so badly. These puppy mills need to be shut down and dismantled, but where do we begin. So many of our animal friends are being mistreated and killed...

These story/poems always make me cry so deeply, I cannot understand the inhumanity toward animals, it is so heartbreaking.

Gandhi was right, we have a long way to go, another real good being, Jesus said, something like as you tread the last among us, anyhow, unless the politicians lead, and legislate immensely strict laws with powers of enforcement..... we just had a poor lady lose a case in court up here on defamation charges designating a breeding facility a puppy mill,I personnally would have liked to send the judge to one of those kennels for ten years, to experience the horrific conditions, but to many, animals are just animals," so much less important and lower in stature than us, the way we treat them, does it make you wonder at all who the lower animals actually are?
As Georg mentioned, this kind of thing is still going on in most nordic countries, a cruel way, first, to dress man, in the cold, some hundert years ago, now not needed, but for greed, cruelty as an industry. Thanks for this most important message Ed! and may God bless you! I know you will go up there, with all your creatures.

Wow! I agree with you that people should NEVER buy a pet from a pet store. The SPCA ALWAYS has lots of pets that need a loving home. Bless the precious animals who, like children, have no voice. Its time for us to stand up for them! Great message!

If you want to see horrific pictures of animals bad treatment, see the pictures that animal protection activist in Norway produces after "illegally visiting" 41 (forty one) fur "farmers" with puppies without a leg with a bleeding stump...and more, they have the pictures on You Tube too. That a civilized land like Norway allows it is kind of grotesque!
