A story this Holiday Season

About a tiny Puppy Mill canine

He had been abused, by breeders

But now, his life’s mission is divine

Rudolph, the Wet-Nosed Dachshund

Is not only blind, but he is deaf, as well

He was found by a compassionate woman

Who rescued him, from his Puppy Mill Hell

And these days, Rudolph the Wet-Nosed Dachshund

Visits schoolchildren, and teaches them a grand lesson

He teaches them that it’s OK, to be different from others

He teaches them about life, love, and most of all, compassion

I often think that canines are much smarter than we human beings

They readily accept beings that are so very different from themselves

And, I’m always extremely happy when I learn about Second Chances

Please Adopt, Don’t Shop; it’s time we all help end their Puppy Mill Hell

Puppy mills should have been put out of business years ago, yet they continue, why? I am still waiting for my two new babies who will be birthed by a rescue....

Right on. I love my dogs. My daughter complains that I treat my dogs like children. So, and they don't always listen either so I guess she is right. I love my children. Dogs are awesome. Cats are great too. Liz

Ed this is great and I sure hope that when folks are off shopping for the perfect pet, they go in the right direction as so many are willing to give unconditional love in return for love. Thank you for sharing.

Your message should go without saying. But of course we all know otherwise. My co-pilot Eileen has been "hounding" me all week with not so subtle hints to adopt a 3rd rescue she's been eyeing for Chrismas. Hard to say no.....which I haven't.

Beautiful write..wonderful message, Ed. I hope and pray the days of puppy mills will end one day soon. Animals are among our most precious gifts, and yet there are monsters who would harm them...gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. Our pets have always come from shelters and they always will!

Ed, You are always right on! There really is a way to help these little creatures. It makes me so sad to see any abuse going on. They are helpless as puppies just as babies are. It's such an uplifting poem to brighten my day.
