-A Chilling Start To The New Year-

“Oh, those pesky wabbits!”

Elmer Fudd

I usually walk with my dogs

But, for those sub-zero nights

I built a six-foot backyard fence

So I could stay inside with delight

That fence also protects my canines

From most wild critters, on the prowl

But yesterday, a determined little rabbit

Got into that fenced backyard, somehow

And I never noticed that he was out there

When I let my five mutts out that backdoor

Immediately, all five were in very hot pursuit

Chasing that terrified rabbit all around, Oh Lord

Without thinking about the nasty sub-zero weather

I raced out into the yard, clad only in my bathrobe

I began screaming at my mutts to stop chasing him

All five stopped and stared at me, in the bitter cold

I soon managed to corner that totally petrified rabbit

And scooped him up into my now nearly frozen arms

And then, I marched on over to the old backyard gate

Releasing him and whispering, “You’re now out of harm.”

As I hurriedly rushed back toward the house in my bathrobe

I felt some satisfaction that I had saved that tiny critter’s life

All five of my mutts were still staring at their whacky master

And soon, from the window, hideous taunting, from my wife

“Yoo Hoo! Mr. Elmer Pee Wee Fudd, where’d that cwazy wittle wabbit go?

I think you’ve gone senile; you’re supposed to wear clothes out in the snow!”

And as I rushed back inside, I now dreaded the fact that she had seen me

Wondering how I’d ever get back at her, since this one, she’d never let go

“Hey, Elmer! You better put on some clothes before you shovel snow;

And you just might want to find your boots and socks. Ho, Ho, Ho!”

“Yes, Dear…”

(Oh, those pesky wives.)

Wives do that! It's their vocation and pleasure.
You need to take her to femanimal training or one of the dogs could.
Paw iccle wabbit. Next thing, you'll be out, the garden will have been full of wabbits and you'll just say. "Nice new fur coat dear." What's in the stew.

A Mr. Ed classic to be sure. And a masterful "Beta dog" demonstration, as I already know who the "alpha" might be. Hint...btmw

Uh What's up doc

For a minute there Ed I thought you'd been playing with too much of the old white stuff, and I don't mean snow.

Just kidding. This is a masterpiece. And a well thought up one at that.

Best wishes, Gerry Hackenabush Tate

At the risk of frozen feet and (everything else), that wabbit is glad you raced out in the ice and snow to save it from five canines determined to make it dinner. Well done, Ed. Now go thaw out!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

DEAR ELMER PEEWEE FUDD -

WABBIT? WHAT WABBIT?

Just last nite, saw a commercial with Elmer in it -
pointed out his inability to say the letter R -
HAVE NO IDEA WHICH PRODUCT WAS BEING 'HAWKED'
but still loved Elmer's 'cwazy wabbit' voice!

'wubber baby buggy-bumpews' ... say that 3 times fast ... TomKat.

It's funny how we both talk of rabbits in our last poems, you saving one, and me my characters finding one for their dinner, my how time has progressed!

You done well to rescue that sweet innocent creature, another one that will vouch for you in heaven.
