February 7th to February 13th is this year’s
‘National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week’
A week in this nation, that once meant something
But today, like so many other things, it’s pretty bleak
When this Valentine Week Tribute to our Veterans first started
Both children and adults sent Valentine Cards, all across this nation
Today, it seems like so many other things, we’ve forgotten about them
On Valentine’s Day in our veteran hospitals, there won’t be much elation
I visited many veteran medical centers across our nation over the years
And our ailing and wounded warriors, have always appreciated company
They also like to receive cards, and well wishes, from their fellow citizens
Deserving to be remembered and honored, for what they do, for you and me
Today, over 100,000 veterans are receiving treatment in our veteran hospitals
Many of them have horrendous injuries and severe disabilities obtained in war
Yet, I’ve seen little publicity or group participation in this year’s remembrance
Like so many things that once mattered, we don’t seem to care much anymore
If you would like to send a Valentine’s Card to a Valiant American Veteran
Or even better, to visit to one of our veteran hospitals this week, to bring a smile

No matter where you live, there are many heroes near you, within only a few miles
How Important It Should Still Be,
For All of Us,
