The week of March 15th to the 21st
Celebrates ‘National Wildlife Week’
A time to ponder, all the glories of nature
A time to learn about wildlife, and to teach
I had many excellent teachers, as a young child
I spent most of my free time, in the great outdoors
Today’s children spend most of their time, indoors
We adults, rarely teach them about nature, anymore
Today’s children know little about our wondrous wildlife
They very rarely go camping, hiking, fishing, or exploring
They are no longer taught, about various types of animals
When I was a child, I learned, and I did, all of these things
And, I will never forget the day I saw my first Bighorn Sheep
I was ten-years old, on a camping trip, in the Rocky Mountains
I was mesmerized, watching them traverse a steep, jagged cliff
And my fascination with them, to this day, hasn’t come to an end
I was a Cub Scout, a Boy Scout, and an Explorer, all through my youth
Very proud that Boy Scouts had saved these animals from extermination
But today, so much of our wondrous wildlife, is again being threatened
And today’s youth care very little about saving the wildlife, in our nation
Please take some time this week, to teach the children, in your own life
About some types of endangered wildlife, and about ‘The Great Outdoors’
Unless we all now make a concerted effort, to help them to appreciate nature
In a very short time, so many wondrous, god-given creatures, will be no more

My Son Elijah is still Kayaking…yes, in the winter! He’s planning his second winter campout.
My daughter loves the outdoors, even loves fishing, and then there is my youngest, who loves to play golf, baseball, hockey. They are all lovers of wildlife, nature and the outdoors. We, over here are not really alive unless we are outdoors... alot! xox
My nieces no probs. My nephew lives on his PS3 even if he goes out an electronic gadget is attached to his hands.
We are breeding a scary generation, who don't seem to care about the outdoors.
