Some Nightmares Never End

“An endless explosion of toxic muck,

A sickening creep of poisonous sludge,

That will soon blanket a national park,

More than a dozen wildlife refuges,

And hundreds of miles of coastline.”

Michael Brune,

Of The Sierra Club

Sleep comes hard these extremely sad days

As it did for me, when Katrina had arrived

Then, I had nightmares about cats and dogs

So many of them dead; so many barely alive

I had spent weeks, on our horrendously ravaged Gulf Coast

Like many, doing what I could, to help their ‘left behind’ pets

And still today, every time I look at my three Katrina survivors

I am reminded of their ordeal; two of them have bad dreams yet

I, myself, am often still plagued, with a vivid nightmare of that time

In which I am standing in someone’s former hurricane-ravaged home

Tears streaming down my face, amidst a scene of horrible destruction

Wishing I could have saved their loyal pet, who had died in it, all alone

I made many friends down on America’s battered and bruised Gulf

I journeyed back down there for the Three-Year Katrina Anniversary

Although there was still much work to be done, residents were valiantly

Attempting to return, both themselves and their homes, to some normalcy

And now, they have so horrendously awakened, to a brand new nightmare

Their beloved homeland, now being invaded by ‘an explosion of toxic muck’

‘A sickening creep of poisonous sludge’ about to rob them of normalcy, again

Their way of life, and their wondrous wildlife devastated, for oil industry bucks

I keep picturing family-owned businesses, now ruined, for generations to come

I keep picturing dead fish, oil-mired birds, and a sickening oil-stench, in their air

I keep picturing blackened beaches, and once thriving wetlands, devoid of all life

And I sadly wonder why some nightmares never end, and why life is often so unfair

It so very sadly seems to me, these extremely sad days,

Between Mother Nature’s wrath and our own arrogance,

So much of what so many of us have loved, all of our lives,

Is now, so rapidly, being swept away, and coming to an end.

And the even frightening coda to this sad refrain is this: Hurricane season is only weeks away and the El Nino is likely to give out and the season will spring back to normal in August after last years "break" - Have we learned anything since Katrina and the epic 2005 Hurricane season. NOT, at least as far as the government-corporate complex is concerned.

And sad as I am for people's livelihoods on the line, who is the FRONTLINE in this epic disaster of my beloved ATLANTIC OCEAN? Not man but animals once again, particularly the vast web of invisible animal life we do not see below the oceans surface, which is the very bottom brick in our own food pyramid.

PEOPLE! try to remember this when it finally hits your dinner plate years from now. Plundering fossil fuels in recklessness is PLUNDERING SELFISH and mining a harvest of sin and disaster for years to come!

We seem to be living in a world that has gone crazy and we therefore live with horrendous nightmares that never go away unless the world returns to its original balance. Thanks dear Ed.

This is so sad but have faith that sooner or later, the light will chase away the nightmares. Be well, Ed. Peace and love in Christ.

Thats exactly why there should be no off shore drilling!!!!!!!! Spills are bound to happen and they cause more havoc than the oil is even worth.

I wonder if all the gold and oil in the world could ever buy the treasures back that we lost and are losing at a rapid rate? Unless the Great Manitou comes back to recreate all, I doubt we'll ever be able to enjoy his beautiful world again.

And now that crucial question: to the money hoarding people will be a trillion zillions enough? And why 300 million plus of Americans aren't protesting? after all they will be paying for the greed's aftermath...

I must admit my friend that I am fast losing what faith I ever had in man. He is too hard-hearted and too hard headed to wake up before he destroy everything. I am grateful I still have faith in God.
God bless,
Lew

Ed,
Through the channeled words of my Karena: "It is a nation of savages that has invaded my land, once pure and clean and harmonic, will become out of balance and dreadful". She speaks the truth and clarity that the white man has not ever listened to. We have destroyed not only the human race, but the planet...What in the world were we thinking?

The Native American race lived here in harmony with the Earth from the beginning of time, until the USA was discovered and all hell broke loose...Mother Nature is really angry with us..to quote you:

"It so very sadly seems to me, these extremely sad days
Between Mother Nature’s wrath and our own arrogance,
So much of what so many of us have loved, all of our lives
Is now, so rapidly, being swept away, and coming to an end."

Coming to an end or a new beginning? That is the question. We have a choice but collectively we must come to a solution...

Love your awareness and heart Ed,
Much peace, love and light,
Amber "V"

I am hopeful that through this profound tragedy, a more generalized level of global awareness will emerge; one that includes recognizing the sheer insanity of continued petroleum-based energy reliance. Stop the drilling and look to the Sun!!!
Your work continues to ever-inspire such an awakening, Ed, as Mother Nature is well aware.
Best Wishes,
Carolyn
