Our animals always teach me something
They seem more compassionate than us
Each new orphan that we now take in
Soon finds a friend that they can trust
Perhaps, it’s because they were homeless
All cast-a-ways, from the mean city streets
Each of them, quickly finds a special friend
They form bonds, which are lasting and sweet
I rescued Valentina from a factory parking lot
She was all alone, and she was so very afraid
Now, she’s taken little Buttons under her wing
And, she comforts this little orphan, every day
When young Buttons cannot find her, she panics
And Valentina quickly rushes over, to comfort her
Valentina is a wonderful role model for Big Sisters
Soon, with her Big Sister by her side, Buttons purrs
And, our felines are not our only compassionate Critter Sitters
Our huge Turbo Dog has already adopted tiny, pregnant, Lupita
He follows after her, and he watches over her, out in our backyard
He has made it his mission to keep her safe, which fills me with awe
Our animals always teach me something,
They seem more compassionate than us;
Each new orphan that we now take in,
Soon finds a friend that they can trust.
