The article that I wrote about his plight
Was published in the paper last Thursday
It prompted a very compassionate woman
To inquire about homeless Lucky yesterday
She had recently lost her own beloved canine
How she now missed her most precious friend
There was sadly now, a huge hole in her heart
She hoped that Lucky, might help her to mend
I asked her to meet us at the vet’s office
She quickly fell in love with him, at first sight
Lucky seemed to sense, that she was ‘the one’
We were all soon headed to her house last night
I watched, as abandoned Lucky bonded with her
I delighted, as he excitedly explored his new home
Tears were soon welling up in my eyes, when I left
They’re still there, as I pen his ‘Happy Ending’ Poem
His compassionate new friend phoned me this morning
She thanked me again, for introducing her to her new pet
“We all love him, and he already adores my granddaughter!”
This latest Adoption Story, is truly one of the happiest yet
I only wish that every homeless canine, was as lucky
And I wish both Lucky and his new family, happiness
When I soon find the next abandoned dog, wandering
I truly hope they too, experience lucky Lucky’s success
Every Dog Truly Does Deserve Their Day,
And, His or Her Very Own, Loving Home;
For Every Homeless Pet We Find These Days,
I Would Love To Write A Happy Ending Poem.
