“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world,
And behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
Norman Vincent Peale
Our household had risen bright and early
On another wondrous Christmas morning
Two of my dogs yearned for an early walk
Soon, we enjoyed the colors it would bring
The fluffy, newly fallen, pure White snow
The glorious Green of the stately pine trees
The Red and Orange, on a pair of Cardinals
The Yellow lights, in the church we did see
The dark Brown pine cones, high above us
The big old Blue jay, singing his merry song
Norman Vincent Peale was absolutely correct
The magic wand of Christmas erased all wrong
As we three joyously traipsed ever further onward
We came upon homes, with Christmas lights aglow
Blue, White, Yellow, Red, Green, Pink, and Orange
A truly multi-colored world, in Blue-shadowed snow
As we started back towards home, it began snowing again
I was reminded of the White Christmases of my childhood
A flood of colorful Yule memories, of my family and friends
My two dogs were wise, this early Christmas stroll, was good
Our household had risen bright and early,
On another wondrous Christmas morning;
Two of my dogs yearned for an early walk,
Soon, we enjoyed all the colors it would bring.
