Our Third Wondrous Wildlife Week Encounter

I awoke to a very unusual noise
It sounded like a duck, in our cabin
My two canines were not very happy
And soon, a hectic chase would begin
I sat up, rubbing my sleep-deprived eyes
And soon, I heard ‘duck quacks’ again
By this time, my two dogs were hysterical
They wanted to bring this quacker to an end
Now, I listened very intently to this quacking
And I suddenly realized, our visitor was a frog
My two dogs were now snarling, at the fireplace
I quickly rushed over there and spotted him on a log
Just before one of my mutts grabbed him in his jowls
Our tiny quacking visitor made a very long daring hop
And soon, the chase was on, all around the cabin floor
And soon, the quacking and the barking, were non-stop
I finally managed to grab our visitor, before my dogs did
He was a delightful Wood Frog, who emerges every Spring
Over my canines’ protests, I then released him out in the wood
So he could continue ‘quacking’ - in search of a mate, he did sing
I awoke to a very unusual noise,

And soon, a hectic chase would begin.
And Yes, a Wood Frog
Does Quack like a Duck;
And, on his Mate Search,
I Wished him ‘Good Luck.’
