The Finale of Our Wondrous Wildlife Week Get-A-Way

“When I admire

The beauty of a sunset,

Or the beauty of the moon,

My soul expands in worship

Of the Creator.”

Mahatma Gandhi

The last night of our Wildlife Week excursion

My dogs and I were treated to a Perigee Moon

I have often thought that canines were spiritual

Like ancestor Wolf, they howled a Worship tune

And what majestic sights and sounds these were

As the huge Perigee Moon hovered over the lake

The last Perigee Moon, was almost 20 years ago

This night, this lake was serene, with nary a wake

They say that the Perigee Moons are 30 percent brighter

And that these moons are 31,000 miles closer to the Earth

What a truly magical night to Moon Worship with my canines

As we now celebrated Creation’s Wildlife and Spring’s Rebirth

We spent several hours out on the lakeshore, admiring this full moon

And, just as we started heading inside, we heard a wise old crow caw

That’s when I recalled that Native Americans called this ‘Crow Moon’

Our wondrous experiences this Wildlife Week, truly filled me with awe

The last night of our Wildlife Week excursion,

My dogs and I were treated to a Perigee Moon;

I have often thought that canines were spiritual,

Like ancestor Wolf, they howled their Worship tune.

Beautiful photo, wonderful subject, great information, fantastically said. Guess it just don't get much better.

Thanks Dick

PS: I've heard of the Harvest Moon and a blue moon, but the terms Perigee Moon and Indian Moon were new to me.

A story to crow about. We had the rain moon that night so I missed it. We do have a neighbor doberman that howls. Doesn't even need the moon. Patrick

Nice indeed and yes I tend to agree our pet dogs are just a different branch of the family tree of the wolf and Coyote, as are the domestic cats from the lion and tiger.
