-A Very Sad Follow-Up To ‘Not Grand At All’-

Photo: A Once Magnificent American Mountaintop,

Now Blown All To Hell, For Its Coal Deposits

Music: Listen To Your Heart

“How shall we expect charity towards others,

When we are so uncharitable, to ourselves?

Charity begins at home is the voice of the world;

Yet, is every man his greatest enemy,

And, as it were, his own executioner.”

Thomas Browne

A gigantic British Oil Corporation has already polluted our Gulf Coast

Canadian Companies will very soon plunder our Grand Canyon uranium

And today, our mountaintops are now being blown up, to extract their coal

By a Conglomerate based in India, as we very complacently, witness our end

Our elected officials not only participate in sending too many of our jobs overseas

They also now make deals with foreign corporations, who profit from our resources

And God Forbid, that any of them worry at all, about what is happening to our home

“We’re doing all this to give you some cheaper energy, so we must now stay the course.”

I wonder when we will get those promised cheaper gas prices from our now polluted Gulf

I wonder how many nations will purchase Canadian uranium from our once Grand Canyon

I wonder if profits made by foreign coal companies are worth destroying our own mountains

And mile upon mile of now polluted rivers, lakes, and streams, as we silently watch it all end

Just like the massive, foreign owned, uranium mining, which will decimate our Grand Canyon

Our ever expanding and destructive mountaintop coal removal process, is killing everything off

Although you may not be a nature lover like me or weep like I do at all this hellish devastation

You may want to at least wake up, and at our ‘Great American Give-A-Way’ begin to scoff

A year after the worst environmental oil disaster in American history

Yet more foreign oil companies joyously drill new wells, in our waters

Over five hundred of our American mountaintops, already blown away

Hundreds of miles of our streams destroyed, all life in them, slaughtered

And, despite the truly horrid price that our once magnificent countryside is paying

All of our energy costs continue to skyrocket, as do the profits of foreign companies

You might want to ask your elected Congressmen when all this cheap energy will arrive

Before all of our mountains, national parks, clean water, and wildlife vanish, for all eternity

“How shall we expect charity towards others,

When we are so uncharitable, to ourselves?

Charity begins at home is the voice of the world;

Yet, is every man his greatest enemy,

And, as it were, his own executioner.”

Giving it all away
is so very, very sad
what we inherited from
Native American Indians
~Mr Ed~
writes of it, and tells
it like it is...as I cry
a Cherokee tear

If you ever wonder about the reason for any destruction,
follow the money and you'll reach the truth. Yes, Ed,
profit is all, and profit kills.

We can only hope and try to instill in our children and grandchildren not to continue making the mistakes we have out of greed and an easier lifestyle.

Sadly all truth!!!! And the ones who can stop this from happening are not concerned about what kind of a planet this will be beyond their own lifespan! They only see the bottom line!

This is truly sad news, and it cannot, in any way, be regarded as progress.

This is a world of greed and glutony, my friend, we thought that is kind of devastation can only occur in countries like Somalia where we have no government but it turns out here that it can also happen in the mightiest of all nations with the strongest governments in the world. Great write, dear Ed.
