From Murdered Marine Mammals to Tortured Pets,
And, We Have Not Even Seen The Worst of It Yet;
In These Dire Economic Times, Our Cruelty Expands,
So Many of Our Neighbors, Now Suffer, By Our Hand.

It is bad enough, that we now abandon them
So many, now being tossed out, like the trash
But even worse, so many of them, now tortured
In a world, losing most of its compassion, so fast
Ellie is an abandoned old Keeshond, recently brought in
She was dehydrated, starving, and she could barely stand
Her fur caked in dry blood, both her ears severely infected
Horrendous burns across her body, inflicted by modern man
Neglected, and starved, and burned, and tossed away, Sweet Ellie
Is not a very young dog at all, she also suffers from old-age arthritis
At some point, and God only knows how long ago, she’d had a home
But for some time, she wandered alone and in pain, ignored by all of us
This sweet old canine is currently on anti-biotics, and she’s still suffering
She will now require surgery, to re-open her severely infected ear canals
So very sadly to me, there are so many strays, just like Ellie, out there now
If you encounter one, please help - they are all still man’s best friend, after all
If you can, help others;
If you cannot,
At least, do them no harm.
