As I very sadly head out this hot morning
To trap another terrified, homeless, canine
I ponder, what is happening now to our nation
So many of us, no longer consider all life, divine
So many Congressmen, are now extremely determined
To kill off, all of America’s remaining wolves and bears
And today, many city officials, all across our vast nation
Want to hire contractors, to hunt down, every dog out there
Our horrendous economy today, is not the fault of Man’s Best Friend
Yet, thousands of canines have been abandoned, to fend for themselves
Far too many of them, are now wandering the streets, hopelessly all alone
While attempting to somehow survive one more day, in this man-made hell
And, what is the modern day solution now being proposed, all across America
“We will hire professional hunters, to shoot all of these dangerous strays down!”
Our nation’s numerous sage ‘leaders’ in towns like Fayetteville, North Carolina
Want to pay thousands of dollars, to exterminators, to murder every dog around
As I very sadly head out this hot morning,
To trap another terrified, homeless, canine;
I ponder, what is happening now to our nation,
So many of us, no longer consider all life, divine.
If you still care at all, about the lives of your pets,
I suggest that you safeguard them, like never before;
These horrendous ‘Murder Solutions’ are increasing,
One day soon, Dog Hunters, may be outside your door.
And if you refuse to believe this could happen near you,
Take a trip to any animal shelter, in your very own town;
They are all overflowing, with abandoned, homeless, canines,
And, not nearly enough compassionate adopters, can be found.
