‘Bait Animals’ are animals being used by dog fighting rings today to test a dog's fighting instinct - they are mauled and killed in the process. They are obtained from several sources: stray and abandoned animals, ‘adoptions’ and ‘sales’ from America’s overburdened animal shelters, and pets stolen from homes and backyards. These truly unfortunate victims are also now being obtained through ‘free to a good home’ ads in newspapers and on the Internet. Small dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits are more at risk of being used as bait than larger animals, but these vicious, greed-filled, dog fighters will use whatever they can get, as cheaply as they can get them, to ‘bait and train’ the dogs they are forcing to fight.

Given Away ‘Free to a Good Home’
This young, innocent, docile Chow
Then, sold to dog fighters, for ‘Bait’
She miraculously survived somehow
Barbed Wire was impaled around her neck
She was tossed into a pen, to ‘train’ canines
Who are severely beaten, if they do not attack
She was found almost dead, in the nick of time
She needed two separate surgeries to heal now
From deep, agonizing wounds, around her face
After many weeks of painful rehab and recovery
She has found a new home, in a much better place
America’s streets and alleyways, are overflowing
With these innocent creatures, being taken as Bait
Please safeguard your own precious family animals
Or they too, could soon meet a truly horrendous fate
And never give any newborn kittens or puppies to complete strangers
Numerous people are now posing as ‘animal lovers’ to make a buck
This truly horrendous cruelty, will never cease in this nation of ours
Until we insist that Animal Cruelty Laws are passed which are tough
Today, our atrocities against Man’s Best Friend are increasing,
From abuse and abandonment, to puppy mills and dog fights;
We as a nation should all hang our heads in shame and sorrow,
And finally resolve, to stand up for them, and make things right.

is about profit..we lose all respect for what's natural

humans residing on planet earth now that the time has come to "regulate" human breeding instinct (yes, Orwellian, indeed!). So too with our trusted companions on this beautiful planet: if breeding permits were manditory & strictly regulated, there would be no "surplus" puppy population for these miserable predators to take advantage of & thereby cease to exist! It is truly beyond my comprehension WHY people engage in such God awful things as this "Baiting" practice--surely these sub-human forms should be "eliminated" from humanity's gene pool?
