In the ancient legendary Norse Mythology stories
Thor was the god of lightning, who protected man
Recently, I received a telephone call about a lost dog
His name was Thor, and his plight was far from grand
He had become lost in a storm filled with thunder and lightning
He had been wandering the wet woodland, for many long days
He had been hungry and thirsty, and now terrified of everyone
I happened to come across him, this last Thor’s Day (Thursday)
Several of us had been out searching the deep dark wood for him
All of us hoping to locate this frightened, lost canine, named Thor
I was fortunate enough to discover some fresh, muddy, paw prints
Since another thunderstorm had pelted the woods the night before
I set out a dog trap and food and crouched behind some bushes
Thor approached very timidly, enticed by the trap’s food scent
I watched as he cautiously took the bait, and was safely caught
His hunger and thirst trumped his fear, his ordeal now at an end
Thor soon accepted a ride back to his home, in our offered transport
When he was reunited with his human god, dog Thor’s joy had no end
The reunion between the two of them, was so very marvelous to behold
A heart-warming, happy ending tale, of a lost canine and his human friend
And by coincidence, or perhaps fate,
When I arrived back home last Thor’s Night,
I watched the new movie, about ancient god Thor,
In which he saves man, from a most horrendous plight.
